As Chief Executive Officer since 2002, Mark Weldon directs NZX's strategic and growth initiatives. Working closely alongside the management group, Mark brings to NZX unrivalled experience in business and exchange strategy development, trading and asset management, corporate finance, mergers, acquisitions, securities and international law.
Mark graduated from Auckland University with a first class Honours degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce. Mark then studied at the Columbia University School of Law in New York, graduating in 1997 with a Doctorate in Jurisprudence.
Mark joined leading New York law firm Skadden, Arps, Slade, Meagher & Flom as an attorney and went on to become a Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, advising business heads of several large international organisations on business development and corporate strategy.
Rowan joined NZX in 2004 following senior roles in communications and change management in both the public and private sectors for both Australian and US domiciled companies. She holds an Honours degree in English Literature and various industry qualifications.
Tony spent seven years in livestock sector as company agent, followed by 24 years in rural journalism in New Zealand and Australia. He co-built Feilding based Country-Wide Publications Limited from a single newspaper company in 1997 to a multi-title business with 30 full-time staff when it became NZX Agri, of which he is now Managing Editor. Tony has a broad knowledge of agriculture across Australasia and internationally. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Agriculture) from Lincoln University.
Prior to joining NZX in 2009 from M-co, David had over 20 years’ IT management experience in development (product based, enterprise level business critical in house and consumer based) and 24*7 operations - for a FTSE100 Property company, a major UK newspaper, and in telecommunications, IT Consulting and software houses. He holds an MSc with Distinction in Software Systems and a BA in Economics and Politics.
Caroline has over 10 years' experience, specialising in finance and corporate law. She has worked at Russell McVeagh in Auckland, followed by corporate and finance work at a prominent London law firm. She had four years as a director and senior legal counsel at Deutsche Bank AG in London prior to joining NZX in 2009. Caroline holds a BCom LLB(Hons) and is a qualified barrister and solicitor in New Zealand and the UK.
Erich joined NZX in 2010 after 18 months as a consultant in the energy sector, based at NZX alongside his ex M-co colleagues. He has business experience in Brazil, Chile, United States, and China, with previous roles in the US Government, energy, management consulting (Booz Allen). He holds degrees in Engineering and Business form the University of Illinois and Kellogg School of Management.
Robyn joined NZX in 2006 working in issuer regulation, following a period on secondment from a major law firm as NZX Company Secretary. Her significant commercial practice experience is primarily in company and securities law, acting for many listed companies in relation to company law, listing rule compliance and capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, compliance and public offer underwriting. Robyn holds an LLB and is a a qualified barrister and solicitor.
Pat has spent more than 20 years in agri-business and commodity markets in Australia, USA and Canada. He has traded agricultural commodities for financial institutions in New York, headed the US offices of a global trading house for several years and founded a risk management services business working with producers, consumers and other participants in agricultural commodity markets. Pat is responsible for NZX’s Australian agri-businesses including the Clear Grain Exchange, several leading market intelligence publications and Australian participants in NZX Dairy Futures market.
Rachael joined NZX in 2007 and was NZX Corporate Counsel until October 2010. She now leads the Direct Products businesses. She has a background in commercial law and mergers and acquisitions. Before joining NZX, Rachael worked at Bell Gully for four years before working at investment bank Barclays Capital in London. She holds LLB and BCA degrees and and is a qualified barrister and solicitor in New Zealand and the UK.
Simon has experience across audit and project roles in financial and product control in both New Zealand (for Fonterra and KPMG) and the UK. He joined NZX Participant Compliance in 2004, then headed up the unit prior to joining the Clearing House project team throughout its development and commissioning. Simon holds a Bachelor of Commerce and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
